VIRTUAL SUPPORT SERIES

Innovating Locally-Relevant Assessment and Accountability Systems through CGSA

C!E is hosting a free series for states seeking to innovate state assessment and/or accountability systems with Competitive Grants for State Assessment (CGSA) funds—especially those interested in locally relevant, community-connected assessment.

WHAT IS IT?

During the weekly virtual series, participants will share ideas and questions for cross-state discussion, receive concrete tips and processes for addressing key elements of their proposals, and gain best practices for organizing proposals with input from state and local perspectives.

Topics range from conceptual discussions (such as: how to build from a clear theory of action for system transformation, or how to pursue authentic community engagement and co-creation) to practical advice (such as: how to organize a collaborative writing team, how to build a budget, or how to communicate complex ideas in ways that maximize points on the scoring rubric).

WHY IS IT VALUABLE TO YOUR PROCESS?

Creating a CGSA application that leads to transformational change is hard. We believe real change requires input from the field and communities, but we recognize it’s difficult to organize multiple voices in service of a strong concept—especially on such a short timeline. We’ll share with our experience with you: the why and how of writing successful applications that bring together many voices in service of creating assessment and accountability systems that are locally relevant and community connected.

When community voices are at the table from the start, they are more ready to participate in the ongoing work, ensuring what gets planned gets done.

WHO'S IT FOR?

We believe CGSA proposals are strongest with multiple perspectives at the writing table. This series is ideally tailored for states that are working with intermediaries or local implementation partners to design new systems, and we welcome one or more of those involved to attend.
