Powering Pathways & Scaling Equity Through Narrative Change
Every story can inspire change.
The narratives we hear every day in our work as pathway intermediaries are not just stories; they are influential frameworks that inform actions and perceptions. Psychology research highlights how narratives guide our attention and modify our interpretations, ultimately shaping our behaviors. By intentionally altering these narratives, we can inspire new perspectives and drive meaningful change.
Some persistent narratives are rooted in misinformation and stereotypes, negatively impacting our work—and people’s lives and businesses. For example, in workforce development, hiring from these programs is often mistakenly viewed as philanthropy or as a function of community service rather than workforce development—ignoring skills and potential of candidates and the strategic business opportunities of a new talent pipeline. Our resources aim to equip nonprofits with the tools to challenge and change such misconceptions, fostering environments where every story underscores potential and achievement.
This site is designed to help pathway intermediaries tell stories that highlight strength, resilience, and opportunity. Below are some curated resources and a number of persistent or emerging narratives they encounter in the field. As you click through to the individual pages, you’ll find some context as well as a few profiles, case studies, data, and articles that can help you craft your own story around them.
